Pimlico Race Course, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is a legendary venue and home to the Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of the Triple Crown. Opened in 1870, it is the second-oldest racetrack in the nation and has hosted some of the sport’s greatest champions.
Now preparing for a major transformation, Pimlico will reopen in 2027 as a modern, year-round racing destination. Rooted in history and tradition, the revitalized venue will continue to serve as a premier stage for Thoroughbred racing and a proud symbol of Maryland’s equestrian legacy.
Note: The Maryland Jockey Club is currently managing racing operations at Laurel Park during the Pimlico rebuilding phase. This agreement lasts through December 2026. Following the construction of the new Pimlico Race Course in 2027.
